Happy Dance - sarah and josh

this one makes us so happy! this is the wedding of sweet sarah and josh on bainbridge island near seattle. they were married at sarah's mother's home on the island. sarah wore her great great grandmother's veil which was over 100 years old!  they had a klezmer band play for their ceremony and hora and it was the most happy joyful dancing we have ever witnessed!

Dessert

the day after their wedding, ginger and adam got all dressed up again and we ran around downtown and hopped on the metro and took all sort of photos of them in their pretties. it was something new that we had never done before and we truly enjoyed slowing down a bit and getting to know these two better. despite the cold weather, we had a wonderful time exploring the city and hearing all the commentary from the randoms out on the street. the over all consensus was that ginger is drop dead gorgeous!

i've been teasing a bit here and there with this one. waiting for the right moment. today is the day to share ginger and adam's swanky boston wedding. jen over at green wedding shoes featured their wedding today and her post is full of information on their awesome details and venue. ginger and adam planned their intimate wedding and party for their friends and family in their own style and in a surrounding that really spoke to who they are as a couple. they were married at mooo restaurant on beacon hill in boston. it was the perfect spot for these two foodies to celebrate!

Nurture

i woke up today wanting to shoot. it wasn't on my "list" but i surrendered all my to-dos until tomorrow. this premature spring sunshine, my new lightmeter, a big box of film, my lovely friend anna and her bump were my perfect distractions. we rediscovered a woodland wonderland right in our neighborhood gulch. anna is a passionate naturopathic doctor. she always celebrates the little things; burying her toes in the dirt, her grandmas vintage slip, her collection of aprons, cooking for others, old family photographs, a mossy rock, fresh herbs, organic juice, gluten free treats, the farmers market and sunlight hitting the trees. she savors it all. she often asks and really wants to know how you are feeling. she always wants to make things better. i feel inspired to nurture myself and loved ones more after spending time with her. this baby growing inside her is so lucky.

This Week

we had a really good week. we enjoyed a crazy sushi dinner with all our dearest friends (big and little). our nephews had a day off so we hung with them and their new skateboards. jon likes to call them the "hair farmers". they are both determined to beat jon at growing their hair out long. my sister holly made them get haircuts the day i took these photos. believe it or not these are actually post haircut. i am ashamed to admit that i rarely photograph my nephews these days, it has gotten so bad that my sister took the boys to jcpennys for portraits. so i decided to shoot some black and white film of them so i can return to the darkroom and make holly some really nice prints. now i am waiting on the rolls to return from the lab. i think i made some nice frames of their new scabs. but who knows. as diane arbus once said "i never have taken a picture i've intended. they're always better or worse"  wednesday night we had so much fun at jazzbones with our friends and family. jon's band did such an amazing job! i love it when jon plays out because it's a big reunion. tonight he is going at it again up in seattle. wish him luck!

Soundcheck

last night jon and his band rocked the house at jazzbones in tacoma. i snuck a couple photos and a video during the soundcheck. i loved the quiet anticipation in the vacant space. today while reading in the bath i came across these lines in my *book by kate braverman. they made me pause and consider jon and this new musical adventure that he is dipping his toes into.

"i realized that our lives are not static, passive, but rather a dance. it is not enough that you choose it.          it must also choose you."

*i may be pulling more words from this amazing little book as i read it, yet once again.
