On the fourth of july

watching vinyl flags float
out the car window
behind piles of used tires
and an open sunday sign.

 

red, white and blue
like beach kites overhead
makes me miss the salty air
in the quiet twilight
before our sky explodes
in patriotic bliss.

top image - jon made a pinhole camera today out of a small matchbox. somehow we ended up at jeff's used tire shop taking test shots next to walgreens. got to love one hour photo even on the fourth. and running off to watch fireworks while you wait for your film to develop. you won't believe what he is up to in the pottery studio. i will not spill the beans. the time is not right. although i really want to...hint, it involves clay and cameras. shh, I didn't say anything.
